Who cannot have this treatment?
Unfortunately, Profhilo® may not be suitable for everyone. You should not undergo this treatment if you:
Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Have a known allergy or sensitivity to lidocaine, amide-type local anaesthetics, hyaluronic acid, or have experienced severe allergic reactions or anaphylaxis.
Have an autoimmune disease.
Are immunocompromised, either due to a medical condition or medication.
Are under 18 years of age.
Are a professional athlete or sportsperson, as hyaluronic acid-based fillers may contain ingredients that could result in a positive drug test.
Have an active infection or inflammation in the treatment area.
Have a history of keloid scarring.
Have had previous surgery, trauma, or fractures in the intended treatment area—please consult the clinic in advance to confirm suitability.
Always consult with your practitioner prior to treatment to ensure it is safe and appropriate for you.
What to do before my treatment?
To ensure the best experience and results from your treatment, please follow these guidelines:
Complete the “New Patient Form” available at the top of our website before your appointment.
Arrive at the clinic at least 5 minutes early.
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior to your treatment.
Refrain from intense physical exercise for 24 hours before your appointment.
Please arrive with a clean face—no makeup, creams, or skincare products.
Do not undergo any filler, laser treatment, chemical peel, or skin booster within 4 weeks prior to your appointment.
If needed, we will apply a numbing agent before your treatment for added comfort. Otherwise, sit back, relax, and enjoy your experience with us!
How will I look after my treatment?
Following your Profhilo® treatment, you may notice 10 small, pea-sized bumps on the face—five on each side. These are completely normal and typically subside within 3 to 24 hours, often disappearing overnight. While some patients may experience mild swelling or slight bruising at the injection sites, others may have no visible after-effects at all.
Your individual response can vary, and our medical team will discuss what to expect in detail during your appointment, ensuring you feel fully informed and comfortable before treatment begins.
What can I do/not do after my treatment?
To ensure optimal results and minimise any side effects, please follow the aftercare instructions below:
Avoid touching or rubbing the treated areas for at least 24 hours.
Cleanse your face gently using light pressure only.
Do not use sunbeds, saunas, or steam rooms for 24 hours post-treatment.
Avoid direct sun exposure for 14 days.
Refrain from applying makeup, creams, fragranced products, or Vaseline for 24 hours.
Avoid strenuous physical activity for 48 hours.
Do not consume alcohol for 48 hours.
Arnica cream or tablets can help reduce and soothe any bruising.
Important: Watch for Emergency Symptoms
While rare, complications can occur within the first 48 hours following treatment. If you experience any of the following symptoms, please email us urgently.
When should I see results?
Profhilo® is a two-session treatment designed for optimal results. Initial improvements in skin hydration and texture may be visible within a few days to weeks following the first session. A second treatment is then carried out 4 to 6 weeks later to further enhance and prolong the effects.
